Real booked their place in the last eight with a 1-0 win over Juventus. Dortmund sealed their spot with a 2-1 victory over Monterrey.

Real Madrid have been steadily growing into the Club World Cup under new head coach Xabi Alonso. After some early struggles, Real topped Group H with seven points, setting up a Round of 16 showdown against Juventus.
Despite a 1-0 scoreline, it was a dominant performance from Real who could and should have won far more comfortably. The Spaniards had 58% of the possession, but it’s the attempts at goal statistics that make for the more interesting reading.
Real had 22 shots with 11 on target. Juve managed just six attempts with two on target. It was as comfortable a 1-0 win as you can get.
Youngster Gonzalo García scored the decisive goal after 54 minutes, heading home a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross. The assist was the Englishman’s first since his move to Spain.
Real are now on a three-match winning streak, and as their record in major events show, when they get on a roll, they are hard to stop.
Borussia Dortmund are also a team on a roll. They finished their Bundesliga season with a flourish, taking 22 points from a possible 24 as they mounted a late surge up the table that saw them clinch fourth place and the final Champions League position.
BVB have carried that momentum into the Club World Cup, where they topped Group F with seven points. They started with a 0-0 draw against Fluminense, but followed that up with wins over Mamelodi Sundowns (4-3) and Ulsan (1-0).
The Germans booked their place in the quarter-finals with a battling 2-1 win against Monterrey in the Round of 16. Serhou Guirassy was the match winner with two first-half goals.

Sorry to Dortmund fans, but we don’t see BVB getting their revenge on Real Madrid at the Club World Cup. BVB are arguably the team in better form, but Real just seem to find a way to win on these occasions.
Furthermore, as well as starting to hit a good run of form, Real also have Kylian Mbappe back and available for selection, just in time for the final stages. We can only see another win for Los Blancos.

Real Madrid matches at this competition haven’t been littered with goals, but there are plenty of signs to suggest this one will have a few.
Two of Madrid’s four matches have had over 2.5 goals. They were the 3-1 win over Pachuca and the 3-0 win over Salzburg.
The other two matches should have produced over 2.5 goals. Real missed a stoppage-time penalty in a 1-1 draw with Al Hilal, and they created enough chances to beat Juventus 3-0 or even 4-0.
Dortmund’s matches have also seen over 2.5 goals land twice. Once in the 4-3 win over Mamelodi Sundowns and again in the 2-1 Round of 16 win over Monterrey. We can see both teams scoring and over 2.5 goals.

Gonzalo Garcia is having a breakout tournament in America.
The 21-year-old not only scored the winning goal in Madrid’s 1-0 victory over Juve but has also scored three goals and provided one assist across his four matches at the competition.
It is possible that if Alonso switches away from 3-5-2 formation, the youngster might make way for the returning Kylian Mbappe.
But if Gonzalo plays, he is well worth backing to continue his excellent goalscoring run at odds better than even money.
